Ancient legend has it that it began with a girl named Tiba. She lived off the coastal waters of present day Australia with her family in a small village named Kunareh. After a large storm had swept away part of their village, the people of Kunareh lived in fear of the ocean that neighbored them. They believed they'd angered one of the sea spirits by having been to abundant in their fishing and taking the beautiful fish for themselves. Tiba was a strange girl by the likes of her people, light skin the opposite of her red-skinned villagers, and long gray hair adorning shining black eyes. Her black eyes scared the Kunareh people and their fear was peaking as strong waves began once more.
To them, the sea spirits disapproved of the strange girl among them, and believed the only way to be safe was to rid themselves of the girl. One night, her family left their doors open so the villagers could steal away the sleeping girl and throw her into the choppy waves of the sea. But the cold winds woke the sleeping child who began to struggle in the villagers' grips. She was young and could not fight them with her strength. Out of fear, the strange girl bit onto one of the villagers' arm and kept her jaw secured as they tried to shake her off. By the time they had, the man had lost much skin, muscle, and tissue, as it now hung from the girl's mouth. Tiba ran home and washed her face of the blood before climbing back into bed. The villagers needed another way to get rid of Tiba. And so, with no other option in their clouded minds, they sent Tiba to fish for the starving village. Should she return they would have food, should she not, they could be safe from the wrath of the sea spirits. The next day, Tiba was sent to the water on a rectangular raft of tied bark, with nothing but a spear and net to accompany her. Once out to sea, she lost sight of the shore line and any people. She hoped that by catching fish, she would be able to return to shore. She quietly awaited, watching the choppy water until fish came close enough for her to spear. But that was too slow, and the net was not as easy to set as she had hoped. The night sky began to fall and she worried. She resorted to diving into the water and somehow, Tiba was able to latch her nails onto scaly slippery fish before biting into them to keep them from swimming away. By the time Tiba had resurfaced, night had fallen and the waves were stronger. With little power, Tiba attempted to reach the beach, all in vain as the stronger waves and currents pulled her out to sea. With all her strength pulled from her, she laid on the bark raft, tired and hopeless as a child could be. Slowly, the bark began to break apart and the girl began to slip into the water, so exhausted to move she could do nothing as she sank into the dark vast ocean. The deeper she sank the more the light from her dark eyes faded, the lighter her skin became and her hair grew longer. Her eyes were slowing closing when a strange tentacle wrapped itself around the waist of the young Kunareh girl, black as night it was and slowing it pulled the girl to the surface. She finally lay there, gasping for breath, still unable to move. A deep voice called to her from below the dark waters, now calm with no wind blowing. "Tiba, child and woman of the Kunareh Tribes. Why have you been strewn across the dark blue velveteen of the Ocean?" In a quiet voice she told the Ocean, "They are afraid of me. I do not look like them so they have cast me out, hoping to rid of me and calm the sea." The waves rippled then as another black tentacle made its way to touch her heart, "Speak up, child." the Ocean demanded. So, she repeated. The waves seemed to get stronger then, "The Kunareh people are foolish. They fear nothing but a child but now they shall have reason to fear." And so the Ocean changed Tiba, into a large ocean predator with large jaws of glistening white teeth, to remind the people of Kunareh of what she had done. She had a broad long gray back and white belly, to match her outer beauty that the villagers had feared. She would be strong and never stop swimming or she would die as she almost had that night. "Now, the Kunareh people will see calm waters and yet it will still be a danger to them. You, Tiba, are the strongest of all sea creatures and they will respect you as the people of land have not and perhaps never shall. You should fear no one." And over the years, Tiba grew and grew and grew, until she gave birth to the pups she had been bestowed with by the Ocean, and she was feared and respected throughout many villages and people over time. And now all her descendants pass along the moment of finding humans and take a swift bite to show them who is strongest. Soon enough the people gave her the name she and her kind all deserved: The Great White Shark. I am saddened to inform you that with all the school work piling up and in need to extra cash, I will have to put the blog on hiatus. I will try to post a story once a week, but with Comic Con coming along as well, most of my time will be devoted and divided in cosplay making, school work, and work. I have currently been working on writing blog posts and articles for pay and hopefully, once things even out, I will be able to write more often. While I am gone, i'd love to receive your prompts and requests so I can have things to write about and be given more inspiration. And that's another thing. Although I know people are reading the blog, I love writer-reader interaction. I'd love to see more feedback, be it reviews, opinions, ideas, prompts, or requests. And I'd love to tweet about my readers and their thoughts on the blog, post up their art, or post their reviews. So please, leave a little something for the writer to be pushed buy.
I hope to be writing for you all soon - HK "It was hideous! Red flying every which way, shouting and roaring. Waving its shiny one claw at me."
"Did it have small eyes? They always say they have small eyes." "Oh this one did! Two of them and green, unlike that other one that came around last time. I took its remaining eye with ease. But this one was young and frisky, whisked her off in a quick snap, I barely had time to react. Waving fire at me like it would scare me off." "You are going to get the princess aren't you? You can't let that hideous two legged take her from us. Who knows what it might do to her." "They are barbaric! That I know. I will get her back, don't you worry. It's by duty." ---- The princess sat in annoyance on the back of the large black shire horse, braiding her caramel hair as she watched the shining prince pull off his helmet, revealing light freckles and a bundle of hay red hair. He grinned arrogantly at her as he held the helmet between his arm and hip, "You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. It will be my pleasure to marry you." The princess scoffed, rolling her eyes the heavens, "Oh yes, yes, it'd be my honor to marry you. You're a coward, you didn't even battle the dragon to retrieve me." The prince beamed, "Of course, I'm a tactician, strategist, highest ranking knight of my father's palace." "You would be," the princess muttered as she leaned back on the arched neck of the horse, "You know he will come don't you? You didn't slay him, he will return." "We'll be long at the palace before that dull creature can even find us. And once we are, he'll never cross out borders." The princess watched the prince walk towards her, his back to the lake, and she began to smile. "The closer I get, the most handsome I seem do I?" the prince boasted. "You'd seem more handsome if you told the dragon to it's face how dull of a creature it is." "Would you? I suppose I could go out upon my very little spare time to slay him just for you.." The princess hopped off the horse and patted its withers with a smug grin, "Then here's your chance, Prince-y." The prince's green eyes widened, "Wait, what?" The roar shook the ground and the metal boots on the prince's armor and he jumped and unsheathed his sword, facing the large beast that appeared behind him in the water. Fifteen meters tall, two large yellow eyes peered down at the shining knight from its long elegantly arched neck. "You dare take what is mine!" roared the hoarse voice of the thundering dragon, before his gleaming white teeth snapped down over the spot the prince had stood in. The prince had jumped out of the way just in time before snapping jaws attacked at him again. As quickly as he could he made for the legs of the black dragon, struggling to run in the water to meet his target. But the dragon, far more agile, swung his tail with great force, sending the prince off against the lake like a skipping stone. As the heavily armored prince sputtered and struggled to remain surfaced, the dragon lumbered over to him. And swiftly took him in his jaws, spreading its enormous wings, creating waves in the lake, flying high into the sky. The prince screamed and waved his arms in a frenzy. Below, the sire horse and the princess stood patiently watching the display. "You know, you can come with us and live in the meadows guarded by the dragons." the princess stated nonchalantly to the horse beside her. The horse snorted and bobbed his graceful but heavy neck. She smiled, "Wonderful, I'll let Blacketh know you're coming with us." In the skies, the large dragon sent the prince flying off into the dark forests of the North with a swing of his head. Once the dragon was sure the prince was far enough he descended and landed before the princess. The woman beamed brightly at him, "You did wonderfully Blacketh! That arrogant chap, on the bright side, the horse wants to come with us." Blacketh's yellow slit eyes glanced over the black shire horse before nodding, "That is fine. Hop on then, Princess." The princess did as told, climbing onto the scaly back of the dragon, gripping tightly to two of the scales, as Blacketh rose us, and grabbed the startled horse in it's claws and flew off. "Clawfoot was worried about you." Blacketh reported as the princess laughed, "Clawfoot is always worried." "Cut the poor creature some slack, he just lost his princess to that strange elven creature." "Ah yes, Lord Therin. Good looking fellow. Hm, I think I'd like to marry an elven fellow. Not one of those barbaric men." Blacketh's chest rumbled with deep, echoing laughter, "Then I will keep you safe until your Elf lord arrives." "What did you say your name was?"
"I do not remember."" Ma'am you just told us your name, can you please repeat it?" "I don't remember you or what I am doing here." The two men looked over at each other, this was strange, this woman, this strange woman was sent to them to help them, and now she wont cooperate. The second man in the blue suit slammed his hand down on the steel table, "Look here woman are you going to help us or what? Because we can throw you back in the hole you came out of." The woman's sapphire eyes looked up at him, "You do not know what it is you want. You coming looking for me for what?" Blue Suit glared at her, "You need to tell us who took the girl." Sapphire Eyes shrugged, "I do not know who took the girl. Why do you think I know who has taken her?" Blue Suit threw his hands in the hair and ignored the man in the black suit who tried to calm him, "Your're insane! Who recommended her to us? Why the hell did we even bring her in?"Black Suit shooed Blue Suit out of the room and sat with a sigh in front of Sapphire Eyes, "Are you really of no help to us, Ma'am." Her eyes seemed to gleam up at him, "Do you think that I can, Mr. Matthews? Do you think that I can help you?" Black Suit, Mr. Matthews only started at her, "I don't know if you can. But I hope that you can." Sapphire Eyes smiled and stood up, her strange black dress clinked and clanked with the small bones of animals and gems she bought and found linked to it, "I can only help those want to be helped. Do you want my help, Mr. Matthews." Mr. Matthews nodded vigorously and Sapphire eyes nodded, "Apples, Mr. Matthews, the child wanted apples. Now, if you do not mind, I have some pups to feed." Without another word Sapphire Eyes left the room with a stunned Mr. Matthews who finally realized what she meant. He skid out of the room, "New York! She's with her cousin in New York, get them on the line, Jones. Move it!" I know I havent posted in such a long time so i'm posting a filler, which is stuff I start to write but never finish. Entry: 34 Notes: If I am truly honest, I am beginning to worry. After working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation as their permanent sketch artist, the Big Man Upstairs (and I don’t mean GOD), called me in after only seven months of working there. I thought he was going to fire me, or worse. When I was first called to see the Big Man Upstairs, the elevator ride was the most frightening minute of my life. Now, I do believe this week has topped it. As I said, I was working for the FBI, but the BMU had other plans for me. He called it a step up; they were transferring me to SOUO, the Scientific Observation of Unnatural Occurrences. I was going to work as their sketch artist with an extra 5,000 dollars added to my paycheck every month. How could I say no to that? And now, I’m very much wishing I had said no to that. It started on Monday. A black SUV pulled up on my driveway and an armed guard and a black suit man rang the doorbell. Now, if that doesn’t scare the neighbors nothing will. “We’re here to escort you to work, Ms. Richards,” said the James Bond look alike. I simply stared at him for a moment before it all registered and I quickly grabbed my belongings: my purse, my sketchbook, and my pencils kit. They drove for what seemed like hours, when I realized we had turned into what looked like an abandoned town. As we got closer I caught glimpses of more military men. I didn’t like where this was headed- This is the second piece to Call On Me "He is not going to be here, dear. You are being childish. You should know better."
Lady Scarlet glared defiantly at her mother, "He said he would be here, he will keep his word. Besides, we never set a time, and I'd rather be ready when he arrives." "You mean if," her brother chide, "he arrives." "He will arrive!" She snapped, her temper flaring, her rouged cheeks were further tinted with red. Her brother snickered as he walked out of the room, her mother rolled her eyes and collected her skirts stepping out of the room, "If you miss dinner, you will not have any after." Scarlet tensed, she loved dinner, but perhaps she could go without it once. Just once. She squared her shoulders and kept her gaze out of the window to the grounds in front of the yard. She knew he would come, he was worth waiting for. She knew it the night before at the party, he was worthy of her attention. Besides, she thought to herself, there is no chance he would ruin a friendship so easily, would he? Two more hours passed and Lady Scarlet gathered her skirts and meandered to the dining hall with slumped shoulders. She made no eye contact with her family as she took her seat at the table as two servants quickly laid out her meal. She was sure mother wore the same expression she always had towards her antics, haughty contempt. She could feel the pitiful look of her father on her but she refused to look up. Upon finishing her meal she quickly excused herself and angrily click-clacked in her heeled white shoes, her favorite shoes, up the stairs as her butler cast her a sad look. It had been quite some time since he last saw his lady so upset. She could deny it all she like, but he could see the hurt in her. All last night since her arrival, all she'd talked about was the prince she met at the ball. At first her mother hadn't believed her, but her father confirmed that Prince Phillip had been present and then came all the questions from the servants. Lady Scarlet had made no expense in describing the lad. For the next week Lady Scarlet occupied herself with helping the maids and servants who felt strange at the sudden help and slight awkwardness of their mistress having been ignored so blatantly. Her eyes did not show the same fiery brightness they usually did, but it did not hold her back from being herself towards any of her visitors or her family. It occurred on Sunday morning, and Channing, Lady Scarlet's butler knocked at her door. "What is it now, Channing? Another visitor? I'm not accepting any at the moment." "No m'lady," came the reply of the butler on the opposite of her chambers, "It is letter to you." Lady Scarlet perked up, a letter? She quickly moved from the small ottoman by her window and opened the door. "For me?" she asked as she took the letter, "From Prince Phillip!" Had Channing been new to working for Lady Scarlet, he would have jumped at the door slamming on his nose, but he was used to her brazen behavior, he certainly hoped the prince would get used to it as well. Inside her room she sat on the ottoman once more and carefully opened the white envelope, slipping out a crisp clean paper, the writing in the neatest black ink she'd ever seen. What else would she expect from a prince? It read: My dear Scarlet, I wish to apologize and grovel to you for having missed calling on you. I hope you do not think so badly of me, although you have every right. I had to write to you and explain what had happened so you would not think me a fat and rude cow like all the other aristocrats. But my youngest sister is sick and I did not wish to leave her side, you see she has favored me over my other brothers. I will do anything to gain your respect back and make any time to see you. If it is alright, I will call on Monday for lunch. In all forgiveness, Yours, Prince Phillip. Lady Scarlet's cheeks were hurting by the end of the short letter. She knew he hadn't purposely left her that day. She looked to her closet, now she needed to find the perfect dress. |
