"I still can't believe you caught it!" Lena squealed, gripping her friend's thick olive arm. Nina's mud eyes sparkled and laughed, waving the foul ball she caught with a grin, "I know! Its amazing! I can't wait to put it in a case!"
"A case!" Lena goaded with a snort, "You want to put a baseball in a case? What is wrong with you?"
Nina chuckled pinching a jellyroll on her side, "Yeah well, I'm not the sporty kind Lena, we both know that."
"Still. Can you believe that you didn't want to come out here?"
Nina elbowed her bony friend in the ribs with a grin, "Don't push it. Just cause I got a baseball at a game doesn't mean I'm going to all your stupid outings."
"They aren't stupid!" Lena insisted with a pout.
The two friends laughed clinging to each others arms to keep themselves from getting separated and inevitably lost.
As they neared the exits, Lena froze, "N-Nina, do you feel that?" Nina paused from her froze friend's position, grunting softly as someone walked past her.
"Feel what?" she questioned, only to being feeling it, too. They clung to each other as the floor began to move, first slowly, a soft rocking, until it began full blown shaking. Nina left the earth shake from her soles to her soul. Her bones rattled, her body stiffened, every hair on her body seemed to stand.
"Nina! Nina, we have to go!" Lena shouted, as people around her in the stadium began to fall from the shaking.
Nina's vision blurred, all the shouting and noised slowly drowned away. She felt something strong grip at her legs and she made to move to escape. Lena was screaming, her voice nearly giving out at large roots burst from the floor of the stadium, dark and thorny, moving with their own mind, wrapping themselves around Nina's body.
Lena's heart was caught in her throat as she watched her friend being enveloped into the roots, and then yanked down into the darkness of the lower levels of the stadium. Lena's emerald eyes widened in horror as she heard the ominous crunching and moaning of the stadium to accustom to its invader.
Lena's attention when from the gaping hole in the stadium bleachers to the sudden eruption of roots that shot into the sky from the center of the field. Screams of those around her watching the supernatural spectacle were deafening. Now, in the center of the stadium, sprouted a brown bud. Strong reddish-brown roots sprouted from the very bottom, and the bud itself looked like very thin leather, and inside was the knee to chest Nina.
Lena didn't know how long she stood there, staring at the alien creature that had abducted her friend. She didn't even realize the strong arms and deep voices that spoke to her. The authorities had arrive, scientists, government's people. "Nina, Nina," was all she managed to say as she was dragged from the spot where she had glued herself to.
Nina, Nina, Nina-
